About the Hong Kong International Races
The Hong Kong International Races is one of the world’s premier horse racing events, attracting top thoroughbreds, trainers, and jockeys from across the globe. Held annually in December, the week-long festival combines high-quality racing with vibrant entertainment, offering racing fans a unique spectacle in one of Asia’s most iconic sporting destinations. The event not only showcases elite equine talent but also highlights Hong Kong’s thriving racing culture and its world-class facilities.
The festival features two main race meetings. The first is at Happy Valley Racecourse on Wednesday 9 December, where the LONGINES International Jockeys’ Championship brings together the world’s best riders in a thrilling competition under lights. The highlight is the Sha Tin Racecourse meeting on Sunday 13 December, which hosts four prestigious Group 1 races — the Hong Kong Cup, Hong Kong Mile, Hong Kong Sprint, and Hong Kong Vase — drawing top international horses and offering substantial prize money, making it a must-see event on the global racing calendar.
