About the Cheltenham Festival
The Cheltenham Festival is the pinnacle of National Hunt racing and a must‑attend fixture for fans of jumps. Across four unforgettable days in March, Cheltenham buzzes with energy as crowds roar for the Champion Hurdle, Gold Cup and all 28 races that make up this legendary meeting. From Champion Day to Gold Cup Friday, the atmosphere here is electric, with world‑class horses and jockeys battling for glory and memories forged that will last a lifetime.
Champion Day
The opening day of The Festival, is headlined by the Champion Hurdle, which has been won over the years by some of history’s biggest names, the likes of Constitution Hill, Honeysuckle & Hurricane Fly. One of the most popular days, it’s where the excitement begins as everyone is buzzing to be back! Make sure you are there to witness who’ll be writing their name in the history books.
Ladies Day
Day two blends top-class jump racing with high style, elegance, and an unmistakable sense of occasion at Prestbury Park. On the track, the spotlight falls on the thrilling Queen Mother Champion Chase – the championship race of the day – supported by other standout contests including the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase and the unique Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase, each adding drama and variety to a world-class card.
St Patrick’s Thursday
Famously St Patrick’s Thursday, Day Three at The Festival is when we celebrate all things Irish, with the Ryanair Chase and the Stayers’ Hurdle headlining the action. Be sure to wear some green and head to the Guinness Village to enjoy a pint of the black stuff whilst you make the most of all of the Irish hits, jigs and Celtic reels!
Gold Cup Day
The final day is when the pinnacle of Jump racing takes place, The Cheltenham Gold Cup. Not only does it headline Day Four, but it’s also the feature race of The Festival for spectators, jockeys and trainers alike. Playing a major part in the sporting calendar in the UK each year, its winners go down in history with the likes of Best Mate & Kauto Star becoming household names.
Cheltenham Festival Dress Code
Style is as individual as you. The Cheltenham Festival is the perfect occasion to wear your best outfits and favourite accessories. The weather can be unpredictable, so you’re advised to dress accordingly.
Two-thirds of the car parks are on grass, so please bear this in mind and wear suitable footwear for the conditions.
During The Cheltenham Festival, fancy dress is not permitted in Hospitality, restaurant facilities, or in the Club Enclosure. Fancy dress is permitted in other areas as long as the outfit isn’t offensive.
