Twelve Bars is a well-balanced colt who was purchased by Highflyer Bloodstock for 40,000 guineas at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale. He now heads into training at Michael Owen’s Manor House Stables under the guidance of Group 1-winning trainer Hugo Palmer.
Anthony Bromley said of the horse… “Hugo is really pleased with what he has seen so far… “He’s a nice, big horse,’ adding, ‘He’s settled in really nicely to work here. He’s a nice ride.” Finishing by saying, “He’s got the size and scope to really be a three-year-old, but he’s strong enough through his top line, and he’s done enough already to suggest that he’s going to race as a two-year-old.”
Hugo Palmer began training in 2011 and made an immediate impact, saddling his first stakes winner the following season with Making Eyes. His rise continued with dual Group 1 winner Covert Love before Galileo Gold delivered a landmark first Classic success in the 2016 2,000 Guineas. Hawksmoor added further international honours with victory in the German 1,000 Guineas.
In 2022, Palmer relocated from Newmarket to Manor House Stables in Cheshire, where Brad The Brief quickly provided his first stakes winner from the new base in the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes. Since then, the yard has continued to thrive, producing a string of high-class performers including The Waco Kid, Make You Smile, Fitzella, Cheshire Dancer and Seagulls Eleven.
Michael Owen is one of the most recognisable names in British sport. The former Ballon d’Or winner enjoyed a distinguished career with Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United and Manchester United, scoring 40 goals for England and establishing himself as one of the country’s finest strikers.
Since retiring from football, Owen has become heavily involved in horse racing through Manor House Stables in Cheshire. As an owner and breeder, he has enjoyed success at the highest level, most notably with Group 1 winner Brown Panther, and has become a respected figure within the sport. His passion for racing and first-hand experience of ownership make him a valuable addition to the Twelve Bars journey, and we are delighted to be working with him.

Breeding Details
Space Blues, made an immediate impression winning on his only start at two before developing into a top-class performer. He went on to capture the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest alongside further successes at Group 2 and Group 3 level. He retired to Darley Stallions’ Kildangan Stud and has already made an excellent start at stud, headed by Group 1 winner Power Blue. His progeny have been well received at the sales, with yearlings fetching up to €200,000, €190,000 and €170,000.
Tamaara ran twice at two before retiring to the paddocks, where she has produced the five-time winner Mammami. Further back in the pedigree is the outstanding Dubai Millennium, champion three-year-old miler and sire of Dubawi.
