Galway Festival: Our trip to Ireland's summer party

Updated: Aug 9, 2023

What is the Galway Festival?

Spread over seven evenings, with the card flitting between flat and jump races, the Galway Festival is where Ireland's top connections of both codes collide. Unlike the Punchestown or Irish Champions Festival, however, races aren't necessarily of the highest distinction. That allows for an air of informality, giving you space for non-stop pints, washed down with the best 'craic'.

What's the itinerary?

Flying into Shannon Airport, we transfer you to Galway city centre, and to your luxury hotel. From that base, it's just a ten minute journey to the racecourse, having taken in the delights of the country's fourth largest city in your spare time. Tickets will be arranged for you, and we'll make sure breakfast is included in your stay. You can also ask us to reserve a seat in the Millennium Grandstand, giving you time to spend your day in complete comfort.

What happened in 2023?

With the Galway Plate on Wednesday, and the Galway Hurdle on Thursday, JP McManus took the first two races on our opening day. Jessie Harrington, meanwhile, delivered success with Youcrackmeup in the Eventus Handicap, much to delight of her owners, the It's All About The Girls syndicate.

Which days are included?

With seven days to choose from, we've selected the best two: Galway Plate day on Wednesday, and Galway Hurdle day on Thursday. You'll have tickets to both!
